PSA: No New Blog Posts This Week… Except This One!
I have been taking this week to focus on my writing, which is actually one of the major goals of starting this blog up in the first place. As such, I will not have much time to dedicate to new blog entries for this week. Instead, I have been editing a novel that I have been writing for a while now, in the run up to completing the handful of chapters that I have left to type. The problem that has been plaguing my writing career is the inability to finish a project once I’ve started it. No more I adamantly declare! I will finish this novel, even if it kills me. OK, maybe not if it kills me. OK wait, If I am actually found dead before the novel is completed… well, then well played novel – you win.
The novel in question is my often mentioned Thrice in a Lifetime. You can read rough drafts of Chapter 1 and Chapter 2 right now! It is the whimsical tale of Maverick McCormick and the 3 very different lifes that he lives. When I say different, I mean that he intermittently wakes up in 3 distinctly different bodies in 3 distinctly different alternate realities at seemingly random intervals. Sometimes as a white male, others as a black male, and even as a woman, Maverick gets him/herself into all sorts of crazy scenarios in this slice of life meets sci-if romp. There is a large cast of supporting characters, and a ton of adventure, snappy dialogue and a metric ton of oddly erotic material waiting for the world to discover! The good news: I am nearly done writing the initial draft.
This is where you come in!
As stated beforehand, I am dangerously close to completing a full draft of Thrice in a Lifetime, and that’s where you come in! I am looking for a handful of people, no more than say 5, to volunteer to read the first draft of the full novel when it is completed in the near immediate future. I am primarily looking for constructive criticism, the pointing out of glaring editing mistakes, and your overall impression of the novel. If you are interested in being a beta tester for my first novel, send me an email, leave a comment below or catch me on Twitter and tell me that you want to read my book. Once I have completed the book, I will send you a copy in the digital file type of your preference and then patiently await your response. I won’t be obnoxious about it, and I certainly won’t pester you incessantly until you respond. I understand that what I am asking for is time consuming, and I would prefer that you took your time and gave me an answer with more depth than, “thanks bro, it was a good read. Needed more Rastafarians. Keep up the good work!” More than anything, I want a fresh set of eyes to read it, absorb the content and then let me know how you liked it. Was it funny? Was it sad? Was it worth your time? Did you see the ending coming? Did it make you think? Did you relate to the characters? Did it make you horny? Let me ask you a question, and be honest:But seriously: I need a few good readers. If you love to read, can make the time to read a full length novel, and then at some point write me a note with your impressions/concerns – then I would love to send you a copy of my book. As a nice little bonus, I will politely (or impolitely, should that be your desire) mention you in a brief page of appreciation before the novel starts. If you are interested, get in touch and I will let you know when I have finished the epic odyssey: Thrice in a Lifetime.
Until then, you can fish through the links on my blog and catch up on nearly a year’s worth of posts. There are all manner of stories, comics, commentary and a lot of bed head to be discovered. Regardless, have fun on my blog and tell everybody how much you love Nerfed Llamas – the most kicking’ rad place on the Internet!
